Surging at WOT then code thrown

Hey guys,

When I opened the jeep up today, it started surging pretty violently around 5000 rpm, then threw a code and turned traction control off. It ran pretty rough the rest of the way home (limp mode?) .

The code turned out to be P0016, the camshaft position sensor error. It also threw a random misfire (P0300 I think ). I've read that the P0016 can be due to faulty sensors - does this sound like that as well? Any estimate on the cost of replacing sensors?

Thanks so much for any help.

p0016 is crankshaft/camshaft misalignment

Check both the crankshaft and camshaft position sensor connectors and wiring first. Either CKP(Crankshaft position sensor) or the CMP(camshaft position sensor) could be on its way out which would cause a misfire.

The CMP is located to the right side of the timing chain cover below the generator.

The CKP is located on the right rear side of the engine block.
