Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Im thinking it can be an engine misfire especially because the transmission is only a few months old. could it possibly be a computer issue which would make the torque converter open and lockup and make some vibration. Tranny shop said my torque converter was very bad when they took it off.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Did you get all the bushes checked:

3x on front diff
2x swaybar
2x on each UCA
2x on each LCA

There's also the possibility of CV's.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

That would make the jeep surge while moving? And you can see the rpms moving up and down.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Ah, OK, I didn't quite understand what you meant. If it's to do with the rpms, then it's a different story. I had a similar issue where the rpms would move up and down when coming to a complete stop, like at a set of lights, and on 3 occassiopns it stalled as the revs dropped down too low. After changing/flushing out the tranny fluid, all sweet now.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Yea unfortunately this jeeps transmission was completely rebuilt and it has fresh fluid so it should not be happening again. I wonder if its possible that a computer issue is causing the torque converter to fail.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Hey Madanio24 i dont know ish bout working on cars, lol. But from what you're describing, I had very similair problems, got absolutely no fault codes until it was REALLY Bad, limp mode. Had to have the TCM on the tranny replaced. Tnen everything worked great for awhile (bout a year), then started getting the same thing going up small hills and you have to mash the pedal to make the damn thing move. I got the mopar TPS and had my friend do it for me, and since that, it fixed the problem. Mabe try the mopar TPS? Or if you know a tranny guy see if he can pull any codes from your TCM? only mentioning it because Ive had the same problems it was beyond frustrating. Good luck

Then I also get a vibrating sound when it pulses, almost like a cylinder is knocking. If I can't find solution I have to take it into a mechanic.

I had started a thread just like this a couple of weeks ago because I didn't see this one. I have an 06 hemi that does exactly what you are all describing. There are a few things that I noticed.
1) my hemi shakes the worst when it shifts into 4/od from 3rd gear around 40ish mph. If i manually shift back into 3rd during the shaking, it immediately stops.
2) the mds is not on when the shaking happens. The amount of acceleration required to start the shaking, kicks the jeep out of 4 cylinder mode.
3) I've tried the premium octane tune via the diablo sport predator and that showed no changes.

I have the 5.7 hemi with gaudradrive 2 trans.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

When the problem happens I also have to push the pedal in very far for it to stop and eventually down shift. I wish jeep would recognize this problem. It really is starting to feel how it was before my tranny was rebuilt a few months ago. My theory is its something with the computer not giving the trans the right amount of pressure which was stated by some members a few posts agp.
