Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Anybody think Ignition Coils could be causing a problem? I believe the car should be idling a little smoother also.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

on another note just did the throttle body ground and the throttle is a lot smoother!!! not sure if it helped with the surging, haven't driven enough but will let you know. this upgrade will do great with a ported TB.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Throttle body ground? Please explain! I am patiently waiting for my TB from flyin ryan now!

If you wanted to test the coils you could go buy 1 (since they are pricey) and move it one cylinder at a time to see if it helps since its not throwing a code.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Yea I got just one a while ago and swapped them around randomly. The mechanic said the brand new coil could degrade the other older coils because of resistance over time. Idk lol.

As for the throttle body ground you take a piece of wire,I used 8 awg with two ring connectors on each end. Then you put it on one of the throttle body bolts and the other end of the wire goes to the frame. Quick effective mod

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

so driving today going about 40 mph had to break then quickly tried to accelerate and it went into surging mode pretty badly, worst I've ever felt it and again had to give gas to make it stop.

Frustrating, there must be a dead spots in the pedal or something...mine has been doing it less, but my engine is making a new funky noise....

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

ok just an update, on friday I got my 22's balanced, apparently they were never balanced in the first place... weird :s. Anyway now on the highway the car doesn't vibrate !!! Also at the tire place they had a fuel injection cleaning for 79.99 and i said "what the heck" so i got done. OMG my car runs like a dream now its so smooth, idles clean and accelerates great. Ive only driven for a few days but the pulsing is basely there now and the car is great.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Hey guys again. So i noticed that my problem was improving in this warm weather. But today it has been raining and the car has been running 1000X worse. It idles at 500 rpm's and a little pulsing during idle. Then when i accelerate once the rpms go over 1.5k rpms in every gear you get a very constant pulse/jerking back and forth motion. Even on the highway this problem persists. It seems like there is a dead spot in the throttle because usually when i ease off of the throttle after accelerating it will pulse very bad. Earlier this week i cleaned the entire throttle body. Still no results. When the pulsing happens there is a vibration like one of the cylinders is not firing correctly but it is not to do with the drive train because when i let off of the throttle it instantly goes away or throwing it in neutral. Does anyone have any solutions I'm about to go to the stealership.... :s
