Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Do these have drive by wire throttle like the hemi's? Just wondering if that is faulty?

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

No, I think the drive by wire started with the 07+.

NikonKiem has a spectacular aura about
Have him check the injectors. My jeep was doing the same thing and that was the problem, I had clogged injectors

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

I just had the injectors cleaned but I guess it could be clogged badly. Coils are original too.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Cleaned the Pcv valve it rattles and everything. When the hood is open you can see the engine shaking left and right. Not running as smooth as it should be.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

This may be a stupid question, but is your stereo always on? I noticed you have extensive audio upgrades and I had some of the symptoms you describe shortly after installing my subwoofers. Idle was sometimes jumpy and it would sputter and surge on the highway. I improved my ground for the amp and the engine problems vanished. Just another place to look without spending more $$$.

Good luck!

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Thanks but I'm not sure, I have a second battery in the trunk that the amp is connected to. So I'm not short of power. Dropped it off at the stealership this morniNg. I can also have the streo turned all they way up and the subsnwont make the lights dim anymore, so that's the amount of power under the hood lol.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Sucks you are still having issues, keep us updated...I have a feeling it is a PCM issue that was never fixed since this seems to be fairly common

I had a little surging and pulsing at idle and since I got my new PCM it's doesn't do it anymore. Seems like PCM to me too. But I'm not a tech, I just play one on tv haha jk been one of those days

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

I think there is more than one issue being discussed here, but I suspect that some of you may have coils going bad. They don't always throw a CEL when they go bad, and a cylinder not firing properly will give a "pulsing" feeling. You can also hear it in the exhaust. Additionally, they will often deteriorate in performance before failing altogether. I think they're about 30$ each at the parts store, if nothing else it is good preventative maintenance after about 75-100k miles.

Bad PCMs can also do some weird stuff too.

Re: Surging, pulsing while driving

Just got back from the dealer and they updated the PCM to the latest software version. Car shifts smoother but right when i thought the problem was solved it started doing the same damn pulsing/hesitation on the way home. Dealer could not find anything else wrong with the car. Dealer said if problem persists bring back free of charge, so looks like i going back ... Sh*t sucks.
