Suspecting Battery Issues-Is battery date coded?

Jeep is WK 2005 5.7 Limited with 83K+ miles. Suspect possible battery related issues. Is there a way to determine the age of a Factory battery? On my boat, I use Interstate and I can determine age based on battery imprinted markings. Same for the factory supplied? Thanks for any decode info. I looked for any obvious date markings based on supplied month and year choices which of course were not marked on the plastic. Third owner and Carfax does not indicate a dealer battery replacement-sketchy info. at best IMHO. Help appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Suspecting Battery Issues-Is battery date coded?

If you believe your battery is original from the factory, I wouldn't worry about exactly how old it is, just replace it. Coming from a cold climate I stop trusting my batteries after 4 years, and at that point any sign of trouble and they just get replaced.

Re: Suspecting Battery Issues-Is battery date coded?

i drive my XJ to sears every fifth june.
goes like this/

Hi, i need a new battery.
Oh we can test that for you.
No Thank You. Just please remove my old battery and replace it with a new one. Its a size . How much?

Every 60 months if I need it or not. Its my DD. One tow is more than the battery. they wear out. a consistently low battery then overworks your ALT and next you need that too.

and if you read what some people experience in the WK when the battery is GOING BAD while driving....you wont walk but you will RUN to get a new one/

GO BUY A BATTERY.

it is around 7 years old, that means you have been lucky for about 2 years. go get a new one.
