Hey guys...getting a check engine light, saying too much air is coming in from my TB. Code p 0507.
Won't pass inspection with that up there. Any suggestions for fixing it? Reached out to Ryan and he's working on it, but curious if anyone else has had the same problem.
I think P0507 is a higher idle speed than expected.
I would check the air induction system for any restrctions (dirty filter) or leaks.
I would also check for any vacuum leaks.
If all that checks out, it is either the throttle body not working properly (carbon build, bent throttle plate, bad electronics, etc.) or a problem with the PCM.
I have an aftermarket CAI, sounds like that could be some of it? the shop didn't seem to convinced it would be that though. Which was surprising, I feel like a CAI would be an easy scapegoat for them to use. Is it work taking it all out and reinstalling the CAI?
You could try re-setting things by unhooking the battery for 20min, then seeing if the code returns...might be worth a try.
It's pretty uncommon (from my limited understanding) for a CAI to throw these types of codes, but if it is hooked up incorrectly or something I suppose it would be possible.
cool thanks that's helpful. I'm actually pretty interested in fixing this cause I think it's connected to the terrible gas mileage I've been getting too 10-13mpg. Thanks for the help
I have a 07 GC 3.7 I'm getting the 0507 code now... I've researched the potential causes and fixes... My question is regarding the throttle body and IAC valve? I know how to pull the throttle body and clean it, but I'm confused on the IAC valve? Is this able to be cleaned or is this built into the throttle body assembly?
Also, I've read mixed reports now, is ok to use spray cleaners on the non-hemi TBs or is it probably better off just to pull and wipe down manually ?
