Re: Transfer Case :(

If its a cryco warranty then yes, the dealer and keep going up the chain, if its aftermarket, call them. Your dealer has no say in the repair with an aftermarket company, they make the decision at that point. I LOVE aftermarket service contracts and would fight to get something covered for a customer because they pay book time not warranty time so it is good for everyone, the customer doesnt pay an arm and a leg and I get payed a legitament wage for the job.

Re: Transfer Case :(

ok so the transmission guy that I took my truck too on Thursday called me today and said that he opened up the transfer case and could not find ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT!!!!! He put it back together and took it for a drive, said it was sluggish and then when the abs light and service electrical system and 4wd system lights came on it worked fine. He was stumped and said he was going to ask a few electrical specialist he knew. WTF Does anyone know how to help I WANT MY TRUCK BACK!!!!

Re: Transfer Case :(

those 3rd party warranties are tricky, I dread having a problem with my jeep. I read about a member on another forum where the warranty was denied because of carbon in the intake!

Good luck with your repair!

Re: Transfer Case :(

Crap in the intake is a known INSTANT decline on a diesel, It is something specifically requested to be inspected for on ALL diesel engine and intake (including turbo) repairs. Crap in the intake means someone was using an inadequate filter or a dirty filter that failed... diesel engines cost A LOT and that is easily proven that damage was done by aftermarket equipment or poor maintainence unlike a electric drivetrain concern.

As I suspected and already stated, the dealer (read: TECHNICIAN) that worked on your car was DTC diagnosing the problem and which leads me to wonder what the codes are. I have seen a transfercase clutch wear DTC before that was NOT worn clutches, this code was actually cleared and never came back (another tech looked at it). I have see the connector on the transfercase get nasty and this could lead to a poor connection leading to erronious DTC's but clearly this is just being DTC diagnosed and is likely more of an electrical problem that has NOTHING to do with the lift.
