Exclamation Transmission - "Bump" Feeling Below Front Seats

Guys,

I THINK (emphasis on think) I have a possible transmission issue on my hands, but I need help in diagnosing what the possible issues could be.

Vehicle: 2006 WK/3.7L/4x4/Laredo (automatic trans)

Basically, more times than not, when I am slowing down (usually at around the 15mph to 10mph range, I feel a very noticeable "Bump" feeling directly below and slightly behind the front seats. This usually occurs when I am, as stated, slowing down, and even sometimes when I am taking off. I have also noticed the issue when I am accelerating between the 35 to 40 mph mark. The "bump" feeling also occurs everytime I shift into reverse. I called a transmission specialist and was told that it sounds like a transmission mount issue or possibly even u-joint. Any ideas on what the problem could be, and actions and or advice that I need to take?

Re: Transmission - "Bump" Feeling Below Front Seats

Sounds indeed as an U-joint with play.
Differential bushings are also well known to wear out, but i believe that they more often cause a clunk when shifting into gear.
I would first visually check the prop shaft joints and try to rotate the prop shafts by hand, checking for any excessive play.

Re: Transmission - "Bump" Feeling Below Front Seats

Frank,

I appreciate the advice. It's definitely annoying more than anything. Especially considering that the vehicle only has 84K miles on it, and the U-joint were replaced a little over a year ago. I'm just hoping it's something that can be fixed for idk.... under a couple hundred bucks. Your comment seems legit though - I will be sure to keep that in mind along the way.

Thanks,
Zach
