05 grand cherokee 4wd 3.7 nag1 transmission. All was well until friday , vehicle got stuck in drive, put it in park and then back to reverse and it was fine. Later that evening it decided going down the road it didn't want to shift out of first. No prior issues. Only code thrown is p0700. Trying to figure out what the issue is. Have read several posts on esm tcm and solenoids. Please help. Also sitting in driveway it's clunking now just shifting through gears. Oh and one more thing slap stick isn't working now either. Thanks in advance.

PO700 is just telling you that there a transmisiion problem, you need to scan the transmission module to get the codes for proper diagnosis. One common issue with these units is the case connector leaking. If you disconnect the case connecrtor and see oil inside the connector, that may be your issue. We have changed several case connector and conductor plates on Nag 1's. Thsese units are used in Chrysler and Merdedes vehicles and have found this issue in all of them.

I got a code off of it a p1644 which basically stated tcm is not programmed to the vehicle specifics. Freeze data is a wonderful thing. The esm contacts are good. It's not making the dash light up. At this point I'm certain it's a dealership tech error. I had it towed again ( for the umpteenth time) back to them they said they will try to reprogram it if not they will be ordering a tcm. I told them I was not paying anything for them to fix an issue that I already paid to have corrected. Oh and the side connector was checked by my transmission guy, everything was good on that.

Sooo here we are again. Dealership is trying to tell me that the tcm they installed is not fault, however the service person I'm dealing with is getting all this information from his supposed transmission guy. The only code it was throwing before it went back to the dealership was a p1644 which means that the tcm didn't accept the programming. I now think they are just jacking me around. I have asked for the codes that they got from their supposed diagnostics. I am no longer just irritated I am full on pissed off.
