Trouble Code 2504

I was leaving for work this morning, pulled out on the road, all of a sudden my fog lights turn off and the battery indicator lights up on the dash. I was going to stop at the next gas station but everything seemed to be working just fine so I continued onto work (I did not want to be stuck at the gas station and not make it to work) I made it to work I pulled out my trusty multimeter checked the battery and it was charging fine 14.2+ VDC. Turned the jeep off and did the key dance code 2504 popped up, and then I started up the jeep and everything was working fine.

First I can not find code 2504 all I could find was code 2503 on WKJeeps, which is Charging System Voltage Low.

Second WTF, anyone have any idea what happened.

Re: Trouble Code 2504

Charging system low can indicate a faulty alternator not charging like it should but you tested that with a voltmeter and it was charging. Be on the lookout if it comes on again.

Re: Trouble Code 2504

Doesn't 14.2+ vdc load on the battery indicate that the alternator is working and charging the battery???

Re: Trouble Code 2504

connect the volt meter directly to the bold on the alternator then ground it off. If it is the 14 range your alternator is fine. ANy problems with battery or starting?

Re: Trouble Code 2504

Strange i used to get that light on my old integra because the acc belt going to the alternator broke so there was nothing to charge the battery.

Re: Trouble Code 2504

what do your battery cables look like, according to service information, pcm failure and excessive resistance in the main B+ wire from the alternator to the battery, make sure your battery clamp is tight, make sure the cable is in good shape and not full of corrosion.
