Uconnect question

I'm thinking about getting a Uconnect mirror w/mic and the wiring harness. Is it easy to install and does it work well?

Re: Uconnect question

I use my cell alot while driving for work. I've listened to my cell in my WK speakers through my RER and it sounds good. Just want to know how sensitive the mirror mic is.

My GF uses this all the time and it works great. We have cell/driving laws hear in CA so it's real handy, I should say no hands I'm not sure about the install, I think there may be a thread on hear about it.

Re: Uconnect question

I could be wrong and will hopefully be corrected if I am, but you cannot just integrate the factory mirror, to the best of my knowledge your only option is to use the mopar accessory kit which is basically an aftermarket "plug and play" kit that you have to tape an external mic to the pillar and the control buttons to the dash.

Re: Uconnect question

You can adapt the mirror mic to the system, however let me ask:
do you already have uconnect in the vehicle? If not then you will need more than just the mirror, you will need the module as well.
Now for the sound quality of mic location.. the rear view mirror is the worst place for the mic. You get a lot of road noise, wind noise from the defroster when it's on and the mic is facing away from you so it's not real clear. Chrysler has done audio testing and found that a mic on the overhead area gives the best sound quality. That's why the started putting them on the "A"pillar trim. The factory mic in the trim is also a superior mic than the mirror or the external mic that you mount with 2 sided tape and the external mic is better than the mirror mic.

Re: Uconnect question

Sorry, I should have been a little more informative. I installed a Mygig RER in my 05 Ltd. It has Uconnect built in. Seems all I need is the Uconnect capable mirror and the wiring harness to get it all working.

Re: Uconnect question

I did not know about the A pillar mic mount. Any info on it? Would really like to avoid the sun visor setup.

Re: Uconnect question

Sorry, I just got back to this thread, let me look into this a little more (seeing that it's a 2005 vehicle) is the radio a newer radio or is it also for the 2005?
