Upgrading from REC to RER

Hello all,

I recently just bought my MYGIG radio so excited!!!! My REC took a shit on me with lines in the screen this past sunday. I did so research about the unit i just need somethings cleared up.

I know i need i need a new mic but i saw somewhere online that they make a cable that plugs in so i can use my UConnect mirror but i lost the link. my question is is there a cable that i can use or do i have to buy a new mic.

Secondly do i need to remove and rerun a new SAT antenna to the top of my Jeep or is the RER SAT self containing.

Lastly do i have to have the Lockpick right away to even use my radio. I was looking and the Lockpick V5 is like $250 i would have to wait until my next pay to buy one but i was wondering if i could hook it up and use until i can buy the Lockpick.

Thank you all in advance

Re: Upgrading from REC to RER

Bump... I'm in a similar boat as you.

I know there are many threads on this topic already as I have had my mygig unit for a couple years now but just haven't gotten to installing it yet.

Do some browsing and you'll probably find most of your answers in this forum. As for the mic, I know there is/was a cable that was intended to be the necessary link to do this swap, but from everything I have heard it doesn't actually work due to having the wrong plug connectors on it. I don't know that it was ever corrected but let me know if you find any new info.

Enjoy! Hopefully soon I will be installing mine too!
