Whining and Clicking Noises

My 2006 Jeep GC was making some funny noises when I start to drive. Right around 20 mph you can here this click, click noises coming from the wheels and then you get this whining noise at the same time but it starts to stop around 40 mph and up. I'm thinking its my wheel bearings but I'm not sure if that's the problem. Can you guys give me some input on what you guys think the problem is

Re: Whining and Clicking Noises

Does it make any of these noises while idling? Or does it only occur between 20-40mph?

If it happens during idling (specifically the whining) it could be the serpentine belt.

Re: Whining and Clicking Noises

Just when driving. I had a bad ball joint and a bad outer tie rod end. So I thought it would have fixed the problem but no. So I crawled under the jeep and noticed that my rear drive shaft cv joint was dry as can be. I took it off and greased it up and put it back on. It didn't get rid of the whining noise either. But I did notice to that there was some play in the bearings. Could it have anything to do with the whinging?

Cv joint dry? Cv joints suppost to have a rubber bellow around them and youre not suppost to see grease or lack of it.

Ya there wasn't no grease inside the bearing, so I added some to it. As for the rubber boot, it was torn part.

Re: Whining and Clicking Noises

CV joints wear out quickly when the boot it torn and the grease is gone. You most probably will need to change that CV joint, they indeed start making noises due to the wear.
