? a glass shop does not know whether a vehicle manufactured for USA sale has laminated windshield? And they are not aware that the windshield must be marked with its DOT identity and a safety number that tells whether it is laminated?
If this is the original windshield, look for a small marker on it, and if you see AS1, I don't believe anything but laminated can meet that standard. I don't recall that anything other than laminated can be used as the ORIGINAL windshield in the US...
The mounting of the replacement, particularly the type of glue and the removal prep of the vehicle are important as well, and I'd worry about a shop not familiar enough with US windshield safety standards as to ask you about it being laminated or not.
If you plan to keep the vehicle, only use an original windshield... and only use a shop that is aware of the required DOT markings on it and the replacement plus the requirements for mounting prep and glue if the vehicle has air bags...
