Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

When you put the bigger tires on, did you recalibrate the odometer with the SC Tuner? There is a big difference in tire sizes between the stock 245/65-17's and your 255/75-18's.
Here's the differences:

245/65-17 Diameter: 29.539 in. Revolutions per mile: 682.754

255/75-18 Diameter: 33.059 in. Revolutions per mile: 610.063

With your current tires, at an actual speed of 65 mph, the speedometer will indicate only 58.08 mph. So, you're actually going a lot farther than your odometer is indicating. This would make a considerable difference in your fuel economy calculations. Also, your performance would suffer somewhat too with the larger diameter tire.

Yes I recalibrated and crosschecked it with GPS, it's dead on all the way up, max test speed was 80mph

Let us know how it does on your trip....type fuel used, speed driven, wind conditions, type of terrain, economy, etc.

Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

It went about as well as I expected, averaged around 15 MPG (based on my calculation) with 87 octane and the economy XS tune from my flashpaq. It was running like crap, every once in a while (about every 5-10 minutes) it would surge for a split second, like a bump, an increase of roughly 200 RPM. I'm not sure if it was the engine surge or trans slip, my best guess would be the engine. Like when you have an old engine that hasn't run for a while and it's rough for the first few minutes with it's occasional spurts of power. The second half of the trip I put 93 octane and tuned it back to the standard 87 tune, which is good for all octanes above 87. It still ran the same did not smooth out any. The mileage pushed up to almost 16 MPG according to on board comp., I will not get an accurate calculation because it is back to the local commute for the rest of the tank. The trip was through central PA so it was all long rolling hills, 3-6% grades with elevation changes from sea level to maybe 2000' and 50 degrees avg. no rain. I always drive 72 in the 65 zones, I did run it at 80 for about a half hour on the second half of the trip. For the first 50 miles the LTFT1 leveled off at 7.0 and the LTFT2 was 8.5. In my video (which I am having trouble editing) they are a little lower, throughout the trip the LTFT1 ran from 3-6% and the LTFT2 ran from 5-8% on average. LTFT2 was always 3-4% higher then LTFT1. Still waiting on video, try to get it up later.

Please ignore audio, in fact just mute it, I could not get youtube to add music.
The high RPMs and low LTFTs are going up hill of course and the opposite going down.
