Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

What engine?

Have you checked you've re-connected everything correctly, including the air inlet temp sensor?

Certainly not normal.

I would try disconnecting the battery overnight. Let it re-learn from fresh

Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

OK my wife has a 06 wk 4.7 and at idle the RPMs vary from 200 to 1200. Any Ideas? I have taken it in to the dealer twice and no codes and they say its fine. They also can’t hear the exhaust leak on a cold start up. I am no dummy I can hear it. Any ideas on how to convince them it’s a problem.

Thanks

Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

05 3.7l
check elec brake system message also trac control and abs light. then parking/e brake light and check engine and wont shift out of first. Codes po501 and po700. Changed rear speed sensors and had local garage reset all the lights and codes. Pulled out and front brakes keep locking up by their self and all lights come back on. Scanned again and showed front sensors bad. But how in the world could all four speed sensors go at the same time? Is it the control module maybe. Missed two days of work already because of this, and cant get into the dealer until the 16th. Any thoughts?

That's a weird situation that one. I've not heard of that exact issue... I'm bumping this up in the hope someone can shed some light.

Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

Kycoolcat,

501 is vehicle speed sensor 1 performance.

Do you have good tires or are they worn?
Check wiring and the connections for the system...
PCM connector (black/black) 1 pin 34 & 35
Module Anti-lock brakes all pins 1 thru 47
All wheel sensors

Theory of Operation:
The vehicle speed sensor rationality is a continuous test that monitors the vehicle speed sensor for lack of activity.
The rationality will not run if a limp-in exists for MAP, Throttle Position, and Engine Coolant Temperature. If vehicle speed sensor is below a minimum threshold for a period of time after the vehicle is operated at a sufficient load, a failure will be indicated.

When Monitored:
With the engine running, transmission not in park or neutral, brakes not applied, and engine rpm greater than 1500.

Set Condition:
This code will set if no vehicle speed signal is received from the ABS Module for more than 11 seconds for 2 consecutive trips. Two Trip Fault.

Three good trips to turn off the MIL.

Possible Causes:
ACTIVE BUS OR COMMUNICATION DTCS
TIRE CIRCUMFERENCE
PCM

700 let's you know the EATX for the trans has a DTC code stored in it.

DTC PRESENT IN EATX CONTROLLER
This is an informational DTC letting you know that a DTC(s) is stored in the Transmission Control Module.
Erase this DTC from the PCM after all Transmission DTC(s) have been repaired.
Using a scan tool, read the Transmission Controller DTC and refer to the Transmission Category and perform the appropriate symptom diagnostic.

Re: Wk/Wh 2005~ Grand Cherokee Faults And Issues

2005 5.7L grand cherokee has had several problems: bad tire pressure sensors, constant message stating service 4wd system, the dvd send random read errors when no disc is in the player, and just this week the electronic throttle control light came on and the jeep stalls out. Used to love this jeep, but it's turned into a money pit!
