I hate chrome in general. That's just my opinion. Don't hate. So I needed to get rid of it!
I orginally bought a 06' Silver SRT Grille from a member on here. I decided that I wanted to install it on my Jeep, but I wanted it color matched!
What I did was that I bought some paint/clear on Automotivetouchup.com. They had my Paint Code (PJC) and I bought some clear since it was quality stuff. Quality is what I was going for in this too, since I wanted to try it out by myself and not have a shop paint it.
I received the paint/clear in an aerosole can and I bought 3 Different Kinds of Grits. and sanded it down as smooth as I could with my hands. Then I applied 3-4 good coats of primer and then I went with 3-4 coats of my paint code PJC and did the clear.
This is how it came out. On the Side Note***: It came out a shade or two different than my Jeeps paint. IMO I think it still looks great and gives the front end a nice update/ fine smooth look to it. And I love the Honeycome Grille from the SRT's!
I still had to lightly wet-sand it and polish it out to get that shine out. But I have very satisfied with it for now. So this makes it 2 of 2 Light Khaki SRT Grilles
in the USA. Me and HEMIBEAST.
Here's how it came out.
