2007 WK Build Log

Well, I started the install today. If I never have to do another one, it's fine with me. Snaking the wires around the jeep is a bitch haha. Anyway, I started at 3:30 and ended at 9:30. I ran into some complications removing the radio bezel and also took a break to eat dinner, so rougly a 4.5 hr. install. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves, but I would appreciate it if someone can suggest a good place to ground my amp. I'll post more tomorrow as I finish up the installation.

These pictures are just of where I ran the wire...for anyone that might be puzzled as to where they want to run it. I'll post pictures of where I'm putting the amp/sub tomorrow after I do that step.

Re: 2007 WK Build Log

On my subwoofer box I grounded the subamp on one of the oem amp mounting bolts. The left rear quarter of the Jeep.

Re: 2007 WK Build Log

thanks for the hint, but I just drilled a hole under the trim by the liftgate latch in teh back and screwed the ring terminal down there. As for hints, Hemi, check out the pictures in the bottom of this post. I wil say that the cargo tray is a great place to put the amp, and under it is a great place to hide the wires. Save yourself some time and pain and buy one of those tools that help you push wire through tight places. Getting past the pillar with the driver's seatbelt is a BITCH. I ran the wires from the headunit, under the steering wheel above the pedals, then behind the piece of trim and behind the hood release, under the driver's side kick panels, under the trim above the wheel well, then under the caro tray, into the cargo tray through the holes that are already present (they look like tie down places) then the speaker wire from the amp, out through the hole already present, then up through the tie downs in the main cargo area above the tray. The pictures below will explain. It's a relatively clean install if you take advantage of the cargo tray.

The rubber plug I cut a hole into to enter the car through the firewall:

Final Install sorry for the blurriness:

Re: 2007 WK Build Log

Now that you mention it, Where exactly did that power wire enter the cab? behind the stereo? How did you route it to the floor from the dash?

Re: 2007 WK Build Log

The power wire enters the cab pretty much right ni the middle of the steering wheel and the radio. I ran it from there, across the pedals, then down with the rest of the wiring. The wiring going across the pedals is hidden by the black piece of trim that is attached with two screws.

Re: 2007 WK Build Log

Yeah, if you look for the plug from the interior, you won't see it. The best way to enter the cabin is to run the power wire through the hole, then pull it through, because trust me....you don't want to have to bend the way I did to find the plug from the inside.
