Depending on the Film used that isn't a bad price. Normally a w/s is about $100 from my experience. If you use a film like Air80 it adds some to the price, maybe like $15-20 IIRC. Remember the old saying, you get what you pay for. A cheap install may mean cheap films or poor install.

Re: 50% or 35% windshield

That 78% is legit. Not noticble to police but still does the job.

Clean

And llumar is the best. My tint guy has used it for years on both my cars and friends cars. It never fades or bubbles, and has a heavy duty quality(doesn't scratch up easily)

Mongoose thanks so much for posting up pics, this will really help me decide what % tint I will get on my WK2's windshield.

Re: 50% or 35% windshield

ive asked this before and had got no answer, but in mass we get an inspection sticker every year and it goes in the bottom corner of the windshield. would this ruin the tint by having it removed and another one put on every year? has anyone in mass gotten their windshield tinted?

NY is somewhat similar except that there are two stickers on your windshield's bottom corner. One is a yearly inspection sticker and the other sticker is your registration sticker which is done every two years.

When I got my windshield tint, my tinter steamed them off. They both came off easily but the one thing was that the inspection sticker because it was taken off the window, said VOID on it. Its something on the sticker that prevents people from taking it off and using it on another vehicle once the cover for the adhesive to stick it on the window is taken off.

So what I had to do is, call up the DMV and I told them when I got it "detailed" the detailer got the sticker wet and that it got ruined (because I can get a ticket since the sticker says VOID). I had to send a pic of the sticker, a check for 5 bucks, and the form to get a new sticker and within 2 weeks I got a new sticker. But to prevent my tint from getting ruined, I did not remove the adhesive covering and just took tape and stuck it on the tint. And there you go, no ruined tint and your sticker is removable.

But like I said the inspection is yearly. So when I take it in for inspection I just tell the inspection place to give me the sticker and do not remove the adhesive covering. They don't care. I get the sticker and put the tape on and stick it on the windshield corner.

Do the same for your registration. Every two years (or whenever it is for the non NY residents who have a sticker) DO NOT REMOVE THE COVER TO THE ADHESIVE.

Hope that helps.

Re: 50% or 35% windshield

And my tint.

50% on the windshield and 20% on the front sides. Rest of the windows are left with the stock tint.

Re: 50% or 35% windshield

That windshield makes a world of difference. Any trouble from the cops?

" But to prevent my tint from getting ruined, I did not remove the adhesive covering and just took tape and stuck it on the tint. And there you go, no ruined tint and your sticker is removable."

x2, this is what I will plan to do as well. just some double side to the front side and it should do the trick.

I have gotten pulled over quite a bit for it but only gotten ticketed once. I dont care about the issues with the police. Give me a ticket if you want. Its only 90 per window.
