I know they offer them in 8000k, I don't know about 8500k. You're still just buying them for looks and that's not the point of them lol.

Well that may be, but 3/4 of the time when someone chooses a Kelvin temp that high they are leaning more towards form than function. Someone who truly cares about good lighting stays between 4300k-6000k.

Re: 8000k hid

well my brother bought the same kit for his wk but he got the 6k instead of the 8k, side by side they're just as bright, mine just have a little more blue to them. realisticly a good kit is a good kit regardless of what k it is

Not really, K makes all the difference.

Anyone who knows anything about the proper use of HID knows to stay within 4K - 6K.

You can't over pay when it comes to quality. DDM might seem like a good seller and I have used them but their bulbs are s***, their ballasts are alright and the "lifetime warranty" is only good if the seller still exists as a business.

really dude, "the proper use"? the proper use is a brighter more powerfull headlight to see better while driving. the k is all about what you preferance you have for color. thats like saying people who know the "proper use of a rim" only buy chrome rims, or people who know the "proper use" of a CAI only buy one with a red filter on the end of it. no offense guy, but im on here to see cool things other people have done to their jeeps, not to listen to people who "think" they know more than me bash my posts

First of all I'm not deliberately trying to bash your post. Second, I'm just trying to enlighten you on it's proper use. If you get an HID kit just for the color you are a tool. Anyone that is educated, responsible and in the know about HID realizes that to achieve the best output you stick between 4300k-6000k. That's why people claim if you roll 8K and up you're a ricer

While your examples of the proper use of a rim and a CAI are amusing to me you also need to care about safety of other drivers on the road as well as your own. That's the whole reason for this.

Sorry if it sounds like I'm coming off as a p***k, I just try to help educate people so they can get the most out of their kits.

Re: 8000k hid

so the blue-ish tint to my headlights is somehow unsafe for other drivers? as i said before my brother and i have the same kits except his is 6k mine 8k, side by side mine are no brighter just a little bluer. as for my safety its great, just as great as it would have been had a bought 4k. so while i appreciate your concern for everyones saftey, you are coming off as a p***k. i get the most out of my kit "its all good"

1) Yes it's unsafe and not just for other drivers. The human eye cannot perceive blue that well and it's a proven fact that blue light causes eye fatigue.

2) While yes the Lumen difference between 6K and 8K is marginal it's still a couple extra hundred Lumen.

3) A 4K would've allowed you to see more so the 8K is not as great as the 4K.

4) While I may be a p***k but just because it's "all good" doesn't mean it's "all good" for your eyes or other drivers eyes.
