The hardest part was running the power and wiring the switches right.
I had to first get some good quality high strand count 12 gauge wire so I could just run two wires up there (and I still have support for a few more lights, realistically).
I ran it through the back hatch, down the inner stripping, then under the trim to the driver's side. Then I used an existing grommet on the passenger side of the firewall to get into the engine bay for power. I went behind the center console/dash area and along the bottom of the hush panel to meet everything right at the switches. I had originally wanted to drill into the roof at the rack mount but after dropping the headliner and seeing those SRS curtain airbags staring at me I decided not to risk it. Those things are expensive!
I had to get a few different sized connectors but it is definitely done right.
I soldered all connections and taped them up really well. This is 100% safe. Definitely better than my old Cherokee's stock wiring. That was such a hoax!
It took me about 8 hours for everything. I used Warn light mounts to attach the lights to the yakima rack and that made things really easy. No drilling or anything.
