Air dam affects on mpg

This weekend I took a trip to Vermont. 4hrs each way. 1st 1.5hrs were highway cruising at 70ish and the rest were back roads running about 55mph. On the way up I averaged 19mpg and returning 20mpg. Normally I run with the air dam off and can get 22 - 23 mpg on the highway. Sometimes back roads driving gives me 24. For this trip the air dam went back on. Can this piece really cause such a difference in mpg. I know winter gas sucks with all the additives so I opted for 92 octane.

Thanks, Drew

Running 4.7l with SC Flashpaq and K&N intake. 2" Rc lift with 255/70 Destination ATs.

92 is a waste. i get 23 all the time on the highway in my wk and i have never taken my airdam off. the airdam is designed to not harm mpgs, so it should be a non factor. when have you even got 24mpg on backroads??

The 08-10 airdam isnt big enough to make that substantial of a difference

Re: Air dam affects on mpg

Isn't the air dam designed for better aerodynamics on stock vehicles? Wouldn't a lifted and leveled Jeep be affected differently?

Do you have a 2008+ or are you basing this on your extensive aerodynamics experience?
