an alternate to the "blacked out" look?

i asked this on another board- but this board seems to have more members that are more set up for street and looks than for off-roading, no offense..

so im sitting here at work yesterday and the IT guy is going through my comp from the office in IL, he asked me if that was my jeep on my background (which is it, like you guys dont have yours on your background at home or work). i said yes and he said his buddy has one and looks exactly like mine all "murdered out".... thats when it dawned on me that everyone and their mom goes for that blacked out look.. im think of an alternative to it and was trying to get some feedback on what others have done or left alone to avoid falling into the masses.

its kind of hard not to do it with my rig, being that its mineral gray..

If you don't want to do as the masses.....then I wouldn't be asking the masses what they have done.

I color matched as much as possible to avoid the Blacked Out look on my Mineral grey.

I always thought about adding a lighter more silvery color for a 2 tone look since you asked

Do what catches YOUR eye...who cares what everyone else is doing. "trying" to be different is just as ghey as "trying" to be the same as everyone else. I had a wrangler that was all done in polished stainless. I had an XJ that was pretty much all blacked out, and now I've got a WJ that's got polished wheels and some color matching...because I like it.

I know what you mean. I would love to know where the origination of the term "murdered out" came from. Sounds like a bunch of f***in' hoodlums created that.

I think a pair of grey SRT reps would look pretty sick on your Jeep. Then again I'm not sure if they would work well with your lift.

HAHAHAHAHAH...that's almost poetic!

Honestly...with the amount of "normal" people and soccer moms that drive these...doing any mods sets your ride apart from the masses.

I always thought the term "murdered out" only applied to black vehicles that blacked out all the trim and chrome and what not.

To the OP, I think you've got 2 alternatives to blacking out your accessories, and that is paint matching or chrome. Either one looks good or you could do a combination of all 3 styles. Just whatever you think looks best on your ride.

Re: an alternate to the "blacked out" look?

Mines "blacked out" but I have more comments of "military"/"militaried out" than anything... A kid told me he saw me drive by him in my "military vehicle" the other day haha

I created a new trend!

Honestly though, like TJXJWJ said, do what you think looks good. Personally I like the black on green, black on blue, black on black, etc......
