AVS front bug deflector removal

I bought my jeep used a few years back and right away took off the side air deflectors/rain guards, whatever you want to call them. I've always wanted to take off the front one too, but it is attached with screws that go from underneath the up and through the hood. On top there is little dots either plastic or glue over top the screw holes.

I've searched Google and in the forum and couldn't find anyone else talking about wholes all the way through the hood. Did they install it wrong years ago?

Any advice on taking it off cleanly and covering the holes?

Here are some links to pics since I can't attach them yet.

Re: AVS front bug deflector removal

If I am not mistaken... Prior to the last 2 generations of the bugflector they screwed into the hood, but from the bottom and they never went all the way through. My thinking is the screws from the bottom broke off and they did not find proper replacement, so opted to use a larger screw. As for covering the holes I have no idea what can be done. Sorry.

Re: AVS front bug deflector removal

Looks to me like an appointment with the local expert body shop is in order. If your hood is like the 5.7 hood, it's made out of aluminum.

Is the 5.7 hood heavy? Because the 3.7 is very heavy and solid much more so than other vehicles I have had.

less that an inch to the inside of all the screws is a double layer of the hood I bought it from the same d(st)ealership the previous owner did, never really been fond of them.

Re: AVS front bug deflector removal

The Hemi hood is quite light. I really didn't know there was a difference between models though.
