He sent it out to LXHarness, one of our vendors here. I'm not sure he is doing color changing at the moment. Within out gauge clusters are not lights, they are bulbs that are soldered to the circuit board, if not done properly you can easily fry your cluster.

Re: Center Dash lights

I did, in fact, use a photo filter on the blue displays (NOT the gauge faces. That's an 8 hour job.). It's a RoscoLux Medium Blue filter.

I had to fabricate a pointer puller to do this job right. You can throw off your calibration, cause your pointers to stick, cause them to rest below zero when powered on, and a few other issues that may, or may not crop up.

If you can pull the pointers without messing anything up, you will have one of two options (depending on the revision status of your cluster circuit card).

1. You can simply remove the metal bezel on the displays and insert the film.

2. You will need to unsolder the bezel from the circuit card and carefully pry it from the display.

Either way, be careful not to damage the glass display (if it is a glass type).

I'm not doing any mods, at this point, but will give advice as necessary.

Sorry I haven't been around, much. Thought I'd lend a hand, here

Bob

Re: Center Dash lights

I have worked on clusters on previous vehicles and everything bob mentioned is what makes them so difficult and his services so worth it! They are so delicate and can be thrown off very easily, if you dont know what you are doing then dont do it.

Re: Center Dash lights

The upper and lower switch banks are incandescent bulbs, OEM. So is the Climate Control. All of these components require modifying the circuit to convert to LED.

Some members strap on a resistor to a 3mm dome top LED and call it a day. That's one way to do it...

I've re-engineered the lighting circuit on the components that are incandescent, OEM, to allow for the use of proper LED's... safely and with reliability.

I'm happy to quote an LED color change to any member, here. PM for details.

Bob

Bob

before finding bob i tried to do my own work and it didnt last 6 months. i used dome leds with a resistor and they all overheated and blew out. i sent it to bob and he did it the correct way and it has been perfect for over a year so far. i would just send him everything so you dont break any parts trying to do it on your own.

are you fully operational again bob? i still need my mygig done to match everything else lol

Got a couple lights out on both the top and bottom bar. Bigtime bummer Diboblo is not working his magic right now. Do other places do what he does? Dealer wants $120 for both that will burn out in a year probably.
