That's what I was thinking too I like how they look like the oem ones in the limited and you don't have to buy a whole new cluster and deal with all the issues of installing that just to get the chrome around the guages
the clusters are easy to remove...just 4 screws...but you will have mileage issues with another cluster unless you find a used one with the exact same mileage....LOL
So the mileage is stored in the cluster and not in the PCM?
Am also interested in this mod to class up my Laredo. Is it as simple as removing the plastic cluster trim bezel and then removing the clear cluster cover (while leaving the cluster installed on the vehicle)?
Yeah i wouldnt want to buy a new cluster, that just seems like a lot of unnecessary work haha. I just wish these were like $20 cheaper $40 just seems a little steep for 4 chrome rings
I really like the rings and would like them for my jeep, but at $52 I don't think they're worth it, IMO. I was thinking of just opening it up and painting the rims with some paint that matches the body of my Jeep. Anyone done this?
Sold some WK parts and decided to pick up a set. Came surprisingly quick from the UK. Prob won't have a chance to get them installed this weekend with Easter but will soon post some before/after shots.
i bought a used limited cluster off ebay before I saw these. the stock chrome rings are part of the dial faces. Took off the needles, swapped the dial faces with my original cluster, put the needles back on, done. Disconnected battery to be safe, but never removed harness from original cluster anyhow. Nothing broke, chrome rings look great.
For anyone who was interested in putting in these chrome rings I finally just decided to do it and I'm really happy with the way they turned out look as good as the oem ones and it was one of the easiest things I've done so far they literally just snap in and thats it I didnt even have to unplug the speedo. Here's some pictures of how they look (sorry for the poor quality camera best i could do)...
also i forgot the before shots so use your imagination haha
Got my rings installed last weekend. Had a similar install experience as you. It really classed up the interior. Trying to decide if I like the needle light reflection on the rings at night or not.
Next up, chrome door handles. Anyone got any leads?
I did this today and thought I'd post here. Got them from the eBay supplier in England, can't remember the name. Got here quickly for overseas shipping, and the rings are good sturdy material. Accessing the instrument panel is really easy. One screwdriver and 5 minutes is all it takes to get in there. No cable disconnects. Rings fit on the dials easily....too easily. Way too loose. Tried to put a little bit of a bend in them to firm up the fit, but it didn't help much. Moved on to applying a little glue and affixing them that way. They look great, it was worth doing for sure.
