I don't like the chrome, and I want to color it (probably black), but I was wondering if anyone here had completely dechromed their WK entirely. I've done some searching, and browsed the garages, but I haven't yet found one (a silver one. I've seen a lot of black or charcoal ones that have no chrome, but that won't look the same) that is exactly what I want to do. I want to see what it looks like with all the chrome colored. Anyone got anything?

Hey, I am in the process of de-chroming my Mineral Grey Grand cherokee (not sure if that is what you mean by Charcoal), its actually a bit lighter than the dark grey, so perhaps closer to the silver you refer to.

The door handles, door trim and window trim has all been removed and sent to be sprayed matt black. The only challenging part is the rear window trim as this is glued on and needs to be sprayed whilst on the truck...

I dont have pictures of the finished job, though will post them once I get the truck back (hopefully tomorrow), here is the front and back already done:

Yup, managed to take some pictures, though its still work in progress :D. The trim came back pretty late last night (working week here is Sunday to Thursday), so it will go on the car on Sunday, along with a whole new window tint all round because someone accidentally scratched the driver side window tint .. oh well 50% premium SunGuard tint all round .. again.

Will post pics once I get it back, if all goes well should be on Sunday night!

Here are the trim pieces and door handles sprayed in matt black, I think it will look the bomb when its back on:

And the truck without the trim back on yet . As you can see the rear window trim had to be painted whilst on the car (its glued on so not a good idea to take it off), but gives you a good idea how the colour would blend with the window and the grey body paint.

I finally got it back today! last night the battery decided to die .. bloody ACDelco is designed to die the day after warranty ends ... oh well brand new battery and here it is:

An aggressive stance!

Attention to detail, ALL chrome is now matt black (railings, exhaust, lug nuts, door trim .. everything!)

Window and door trim went well with the SunGuard window tint:

..back home finally..

Thanks, yea the matt black complements the Mineral Grey colour. Was always in the plan when first bought :)
The front park sensor came factory (2009 Overland) I think the truck was manufactured as an export model (so it may be the WK or the WH). I noticed that the stock rims also don't seem to be available in the US for the '09 Overland .. but they are sitting in storage anyways.. On the flip side, I tried to install a remote starter kit, though it wouldn't work as export models are missing a module in the steering column to disable the steering lock when started remotely; you win and loose some I guess.

The wife's car is also the same colour, I think most cars look cool in this light grey. You can always vinyl the whole car

I'm goin to plasti dip and debadge my chrome I think that way I can peel it off if I don't like it. Already did my grille and I like the way that came out. And did your headlights come painted like that?
Yea plasti-dip is a quick and easy option, good if your unsettled about going perm. Though once I saw the change I confirmed there is no way I want to go back to chrome ! Unless the ride is a vintage with 'real' chrome, modern day automotive Chrome is plastic wanna-be metal, where matt black is honest

besides the average high end car doesn't have much chrome (for the above particular reason I guess), here is an example I saw the other day (drool):
