Purchased my 2006 Jeep a few weeks ago. Only had one key fob and it was pretty beat up. Checked out eBay and found a reliable seller, remotes.inc Purchased a brand new OEM one for $74, it arrived in 2 days. Took it to a dealer and it cost me $40 to cut and program it. Well worth it. If I had 2 keys I could have programmed it myself but with 1 it's either a dealer or locksmith. So if your in need of one, check them out.
I have bought key fobs on ebay with excellent results as well, saves a ton of money. my dealer likes to rip people off though, they charge $100 so I had a locksmith do it
I actually have a new key fob that should be arriving tomorrow. Bought the key on ebay from extra-partss for $30. Comes uncut with a chip inside. My dealership told me it'd be $180 for a new fob and $35 to program. New key will be $15 to cut and $35 to program. Can't beat it. Here's the link. I never even thought of searching for that. Great find! Got the key in today. Looks a lil bigger and feels way sturdier than the original. Can't wait to get it cut and programmed so I have a working fob again. I'll def order that logo replacement the next time I place an order on ebay!
Ive called a local locksmith to see how much they would charge to do a new key and they quoted $300+. I only have one key fob for my jeep so I am screwed and have to pay dealer fees to make a new one. My question is can a locksmith make a new key with only one previous key fob?
Hey everyone. I need 2 extra key fobs for my 2008 WK. I have the 2 originals but the buttons are not working. The batteries are good but they no longer not make quality contact with the key's internals. For a while I was able to get away with putting some aluminum foil behind the battery clasp to keep the battery in place, but that recently broke and nothing else seems to be working.
I am looking on eBay for OEM key fobs, but I am worried that I wont be ordering the right key. I'll post pictures of my key and the OEM key fob that I found on eBay. They look the same as far as the amount of buttons and their placement (the icons are a little different), but the back of the key fob is not the same. Will this make any difference? Also if someone on here has a key fob similar to this one on eBay, how do you remove the back to change the battery?
I also found a set from extra-partss, but they do not have a picture of the back of the key fob.
