Re: Homemade Overhead Ambient Lighting – 2006 WK Grand Cherokee Limited

Haven't tried 4.

When I test the relay, sure enough between 5 and 3 is open but for some reason when power is applied to it, it's a constant 12v.

I'm about to try 3. I've been thinking about trying 3 every since I finished 5.

I'm gues you mean when you plug it in then it is constant? It's going to be constant when power is applied to the switch side. Do I have that correct?

How are you testing this each time? Plugging back into the car each time? Sorry, trying to troubleshoot on my end with ya.

Re: Homemade Overhead Ambient Lighting – 2006 WK Grand Cherokee Limited

Found it. It's Pin #3. This relay is toggling ground; not power. That's why 5 is all time power. 3 (ground) toggles over to the power feeding it 12v. Pin #3 is what we want.

I got this shiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaattttttttt!!!

I was testing it by soldering and plugging it back in to the box.

Re: Homemade Overhead Ambient Lighting – 2006 WK Grand Cherokee Limited

I've just picked up some pre wired LED's (resistors and diodes in place already) for this.

I'm thinking of wiring it to the footwell lights or dome lights, so it comes on when you enter the Jeep. I'd like to add some into the doors too.
