Re: How do I Remove the Wiper Cowls from my 06 WK

Does anyone have a pic of their cowls straight on, showing the join in the middle? I took one off the other night to test paint and had a harder-than-expected time getting them to line back up.

Then again maybe they didn't ever line up as I would expect. I'm not sure as I didn't make a mental note before I took the one side off.

Crestwood1001 is an unknown quantity at this point
They are easy to take off, just pop the rubber cover off the bolt and take off the wiper arm, then pop the hood, pull off the weather strip and they just kinda snap off. Just as easy to put back on

Did you ever get a chance to snap a pic? I took both off earlier and couldn't get them to line up. One of the prongs that's on the bottom of the cowls is broke, so I'm not sure if that's causing the problem. I don't think it is. I feel like the two together aren't long enough to extend all the way on both sides, so it's either slide it one way or the other and keep them joined. Or slide each to its end and leave a non-flush join in the middle.

Re: How do I Remove the Wiper Cowls from my 06 WK

Pin? Are we talking about the same thing? I'm referring to the measly plastic prongs that fit into the holes in the metal base.

I realize that the passenger slides over the driver, but I just can't get a clean join.

Re: How do I Remove the Wiper Cowls from my 06 WK

Damn that looks so much better! I'm definitely doing this. Is there any piece of black plastic I should AVOID painting?

Also, is two coats of everything (primer, paint, clearcoat) good? Or more/less of any one spray? Thanks!

Re: How do I Remove the Wiper Cowls from my 06 WK

you can paint over the entire thing. IIRC i did like 2 coats of primer and 3-4 coats of basecoat (go light on first coat and heavier over the next) and 2 coats of clear.

Thanks Davy, probably won't get to this until next weekend but I'll share when I do.

Thank you. That's more or less what mine looks like. I guess I was expecting them to sit closer than that.
