LED Fogs

I know it's been asked before, but I want my fog lights to be more white like my 6000K HID lows. Which would be the best way to do this? I don't really want to deal with another HID kit. Maybe LED?

Re: LED Fogs

You're right, LED would be the cheapest and easiest way to do it. V-LEDS.com is a vendor here and they have several different styles/options of led lights that would match your 6000k hid lows. I believe the fog bulb is a 9154. But be careful, I switched my fogs out with 5000k led bulbs and the output of actual light with the led is about half that of a standard halogen bulb. It's something like 600-800 lumens depending on the bulb you choose. I ended up buying some HIR high beam bulbs to replace my stock fogs. Gives me a lot more visibility than the stock bulbs and a bit of the yellow color everyone seems to be after with our jeep fogs. A lot of people will end up switching back and forth between 6000k and 3000k for visibility purposes. I actually prefer the HIR over the 3000k bulbs.

Yeah, generally the cheaper HID kits run about the same or a little less than LED bulbs. I paid around 40 bucks for the pair with our jg discount from v-leds. If he doesn't want to have to worry about wiring up another HID kit with possible ballasts, it would be easier just to replace his stock lights with LED since they are a direct replacement. Just snap in the new bulbs and you're done. But like Davy said, you'd lose out on a lot of light output. But if all he wants is for the lights to match, LED's are an easy way to do that.

...thats the exact reason why i went with LED fogs. I had HID's in my fogs and had some trouble with the kit and they never really matched my lows. They became more a headache than anything else. So I decided on a pair of 6k LED H10 bulbs from v-leds.com (before i saw them on DDM Tuning) for around $60 shipped. They're 100% plug n play and they match my HID's almost perfectly. Granted they produce hardly any useable light output, maybe 5ft at most off the front bumper.

I bought them strictly for looks and nothing else. Couldn't be happier with the quality and color. And speaking of HID and LED kits...I recently ordered a new set of 6K HID's to replace my 4year old HID kit (thats starting to act up on me) and set of LED fogs but in Yellow from DDM tuning, just to see if i'll like the contrast between 6k HID's and yellow fogs. They cost only $8.49 a bulb!! and come in either white or yellow. How could I say no, right? Mase sure you get the 68x3528 models as they have almost 4x as many leds than their standard ones for $5.99 each.

Here is a link to their site...http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/H10-LED SUPER CHEAP prices and the quality looks to be the same as the V-Leds i have already. I will report back once i get them in the mail.

I Say go for LED's

Re: LED Fogs

*update*

Just got those yellow LED bulbs from DDMTuning. Well i was very suprised to see that they are orange and only 1/2 as bright as my VLED fog bulbs. So just a heads up to anyone thinking they would be yellow or very bright. They're NOT!

Stick with VLEDs for LED fogs.
