Re: Max Steel or Crystal Granite

Max Steel.... I appreciate the depth of color max steel has. Yea it is kind of bland in a dark part of the day, but all in all when the sun beams down on it ahhhhhh like Bill_de said.... all smiles.

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

Re: Max Steel or Crystal Granite

Thanks, all for your opinions. I had to travel 90 minutes to the closest dealer that had a '13 durango citadel in crystal granite on the lot, but I made the trip. I'm really digging the color and it's my top choice now. Plays nice with the chrome.

Unfortunately my order is in D status and cannot be changed, so if I want to switch to granite, that means placing another order in a couple weeks when the restriction is lifted. I think I like the light beige interior better than the Tan I ordered too.....

Re: Max Steel or Crystal Granite

Granite grabbed my eye the first time I saw it in person. It has a lot more character than Max Steel IMO.

I drove an old Escort station wagon to get through college - I think you'll survive.

Heck, I had a 1969 Dodge Dart with a straight-six...and I didn't get that until I turned 21, so only toward the end of my stay at college.

I ultimately needed 2 cars to get me through college...a chevette and a 1984 (I think) Dodge Aries K car that used to be used as a fleet car by the local utility company. mmmmm....vinyl bench front seat and the AM only radio....

Re: Max Steel or Crystal Granite

Both colors look pretty awesome. However if you are ordering make sure you look at it in the shade and light NOT on a rainy day before you accept delivery. Unfortunately mine is kind of camo looking/tiger striped in some light conditions. Have seen a lot of newer cars not just jeeps with metallic paint issues. Just inspect closely and if you don't have stripes you will love the color whichever you choose.

Wasn't that a slant six back then? I'm thinking it's the one that if you dropped the screw when changing points it quickly disappeared into the advance mechanism.

I could go with Black or White (I currently have black on order in fact). However, I'm now leaning toward either Max Steel or Crystal Granite.

I went to a dealer today and saw some GCs on the lot in those colors (not many durangos around....) They were pretty dirty (pollen dust) and it was pretty much direct sunlight. From my perspective in the direct sun, the Max Steel is a dark grey with a blue hue to it, while the crystal granite is a lighter gray with a brown hue.

I'm curious...for those that have GC in either of these colors, how would you say it looks it different light? (overcast, night, etc.) After living with your color in various lighting conditions...are you or are you not happy with your choice?
Those are my two favorites & I dont think you could go wrong with either. Until recently I would have said max steel but I finally saw granite in the sun recently & it won me over.
