Ok, what's the best way to protect/restore "leather" seats?

I've read that the black leather material on my 2008 seats is really "pleather".

What is the best product to maintain the "pleather"? I really don't want the side bolster wrinkles to crack so I'm afraid to use something that will dry it out (silicone based cleaners like Amour All?).

What cleaner should I use? I'm in Canada so not as many products available on store shelves vs the US.

If it's truly vinyl I would use aerospace 303, on leather lexol makes good stuff.

Check the detailing area...there seem to be a lot of threads about leather maintenance lately.

I loves me some Leatherique. No shine, and it makes everything soft and factory looking.

well, I've had good experience with the Autoglym product for vinyl/rubber cleaning, thought I'd try their leather product.

So I bought the Leather Cleaner, http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=FD&Range=1

The Leather Cleaner didn't seem to do much so I was a bit disappointed. Then I read the label and the label referred to using another Autoglym product after cleaning called "Leather Balm", so back to the store again.

Leather Balm is really nice, I did the whole seat http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=EJIJ&Range=1

The label suggests waiting 48 hours before driving the vehicle to allow the Leather Balm to fully get absorbed by the leather.

So, about $35 in products, you really need both products since they work together. I buy Autoglym products from Canadian Tire.

just a quick update. After the leather balm, I noticed some areas where a white residue was in the grain of the seat material. I'm thinking it is because I applied leather balm to the entire seat and the issue is that the entire seat is not leather, some of the seat material is really vinyl (pleather). I ended up re-cleaning the side and back panels of the seats with the Autoglym vinyl/rubber cleaner yesterday. Going to check it over the next few days and see if the white residue is gone.

I just did my 2012 limited interior with Autoglym leather balm today, both the leather and all the plastic including the dash. works great and leaves a nice subtle leathery smell. You just have to be careful not to get globs of it in between panels. I had their vinyl product too but I don't like the citrus smell.

I use lexol when I detail cars, the conditioner gets put on in a heavy wet coat and you leave it in the sun with the windows closed for a few hours to a few days, the heat opens the poors of the leather. After thats done you use the cleaner to remove whats left and all the stuff its pulled to the surface, you will find no better leather cleaner and conditioner imho.

The Leatherique system is awesome. "The Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil and Leatherique Prestine Clean are known by automotive detailing enthusiasts worldwide. Their unique formula helps you restore cardboard hard seats and maintain brand new seats. This combination works on leather, coated leather and synthetic leather surfaces."
