I have an opportunity to buy 5 brand new rims off of a 2010 jeep rubicon for $300 cash. They are going on my 2006 wk. The 2 questions I have are; is this a good deal? do I need wheel spacers to make them fit? I appreciate all your feedback with this
i don't think you need them but don't quote me on it
the bolt pattern is the same so it shouldn't be necessary, and i think these rims are an option in a package or made for jeeps so if that's the case spacers are most likely not needed
i needed spacers for my aftermarket rims as it is not made for jeeps
Thanks vman for the input. I just bought the rims and plan on painting them gunmetal gray. hopefully soon ill have my 3" OME lift with the rubicon wheels and will post some pics for everyone
They changed the caliper a little on the 2006 WK and the Ribicon wheels will hit the caliper if you do not install spacers. I read this somewhere a while back. I think it was posted by Lifted_Up.
I have Rubicon rims on my 06 without any spacers. BUT, I did have to grind a small amount off of the front surface of the caliper mount. I wanted my tires to tuck under the fenders to minimize the amount of crap that the BFG Mud tires would throw, and this was done very well with these rims. They have .25" less backspacing than stock, so they still will stick out just a hair farther than the stock rims.
I believe that the caliper change was a late model 06, some wth the 06 are fine, but some rub. But the amount that it rubs is very little anyway.
I'll post pictures fairly soon. I'm getting some new tires after taxes. I don't really want to show any pictures now, because it is dirty as all hell from upstate NY road salt. Joe would probably die if he saw it.
i have the rubi wheels sitting in my garage waiting to be used. im thinking about paining them gunmetal gray before i put them on my rig. I may just have to put one on to see what kind of clearance im gonna have. thanks for all the input everyone i appreciate it. I'll post pics soon
