Re: Painted Calipers

LOL. That sucks, were you able to get it off? And the calipers didnt use that much paint, I did all 4 with less then a whole can of spray paint.

I got most of it off, but it wasnt too bad since the paint and my workbench were both black. I used the G2 kit instead of spray paint though

Re: Painted Calipers

With paint in hand, it was time to stop by Home Depot and pick up some masking tape and a roll of this slick clear plastic material that comes with tape already along its edge. The roll is only about 5 inches long, but the clear plastic unfolds to about two feet. I stopped by my friend Gilbert Chans shop (R Sports) and he was nice enough to let me use his lift and his install bay. I do most of my mod work at his shop, some times in my garage but whenever lifting the C5 is needed, Gilbert always hooks me up.

Normally Gilbert sells the Folitec brush on caliper paint, but I found that it does not hold up under high heat situations and it runs around $30-40 dollars. Gilbert had some Folitec caliper cleaner laying around from a previous install so he let me use some of it to clean my calipers before painting.

What kind of finish does the black duplicolor paint come in? Is that glossy?
Where do i-get it from?

I need to do this. I just replaced my rotors and the rusty old calipers stick out like a sore thumb. I was looking at the G2 paint but can't decided what color. With everything black on my jeep I was thinking of adding a small amount of color, yellow, red or maybe blue.

Re: Painted Calipers

Lucas J - IMO with everything black the Red really stands out (thats what I went with on my Lil Lady). Although I contemplated the yellow as well! Red is more of a common look so it's all going to depend on if you want to be a little unique and different with the calipers

Re: Painted Calipers

I went with red on mine but like babygirl said its common. I'm seriously thinking about goin with yellow now because its different and i haven't seen many Jeeps with yellow calipers.

I think that would look really good!!! I like the idea of Jeep being black to stand out on the Yellow calipers!
