This was a great thread on my old car forum. The basic premise is for this to be a one stop thread for cheap mods. $20 and under mods only. Basically im a cheap bastard and I know others are too.
(if this is a repeat thread, then forgive me i searched first)
I can start her off:
Made my own shorty antenna. Use two pliers to pry off the ball on the top of the stock antenna. Cut to desired length, and reattach ball with epoxy. I also painted mine black. Best part about this one is it was free (I had the epoxy and paint sitting in my garage, but even if you don't they are still cheap)
Next:
I also bought a shorty antenna online, it was only $15. The reason I made mine though is the reception is spotty where I live (its mountainy here, I need a longer one [thats what she said]) Heres a pic of the one i bought.
Lastly:
Plastidipped my wheels. Self explanatory and you can see a pic in my signature. Cost ~$20 for all four wheels.
I fought it but my an is to keep it and do the Super Lift next spring. I like the whole pretty but still a beast thing. Like a girl that'll take a dip. Lol.
I do have a question for everyone, I want to restore the black trim on my jeep. I have read about all the products to do that and i cant decide on any of them.. so i want yall thoughts on it.. and with the DETAIL DOCTOR stuff it say that it can spontaneous combustion, if you dont do the clean up right.. that right there makes me not even wanna touch the bottle
autozone should have it. Also look into the Meguiars Ultimate Protectant. I use that for all the interior plastic and it still looks glossy after i applied it 4 months ago
.44 mag casings as door lock pulls...got the casings for free and they are real and have been fired. Got pictures on my build thread but ill post them here in a little bit.
Hey Jeff, how'd you get the .44 shell casings to stay ON the the original door locks? I wonder if shell casings from my OWN gun would fit (Glock 27 -> .40 subcompact).
Well what i did was ti took the original pulls out, shortened them about a half and inch. Then the sanded them down so that th casing just starts to go over the pull. Then i pressed them on using a vice and boom done! Then i went back to the doors. Thread the new pulls back onto the rod And adjust it so that it will sit flush or just slightly higher then flush. Once adjusted to the hight you want, press the rubber gromet over the pull and back onto the door panel and reinstall the panel tk the door.
I think trying .40 would be iffy. Only because you will need to remove a lot of the plastic off the pulls. And they would be loose in the doors and rattle..... but .40 makes an excellent cap for your vavle strems! I have .40 casings on those, they fit perfectly on the black caps and all you need to do is super glue em on the caps and let em dry. Dont worry about them coming off eighter, they have been over 120 and all 4 stayed on.... ill get you pics in a bit, they are on my computer....
