Radar Detector

I have an escort 9500IX also. Woks flawlessly. Fantastic range and all. I replaced my 8500x50 with it. That one is just sitting in box actually. I've been meaning to list it for sale. If anyone is interested. Comes with box, manual, radar, cig smart wire, and window mount with auction cups.
Edit: forgot to add its Blue Led.

Re: Radar Detector

Escort passport 9500ix with hardwire intent he back of the mirror so it turns on with the car and off with it. No messy cord. The 9500ix let's you lock out false signals (shopping mall doors, walgreens, Highway speed displays at construction zones) and locks only that specific signal in that exact location (so if a cop has his Ka band on and you locked out a x band there, you get an indicator still.

Valentine 1 is outdated. Escort has released 4 or 5 new detectors and valentine hasn't updated theirs in years.

That's why i'm hesitant to buy a Valentine one. They look awesome and i like the arrows. Also my brother has one from a few years ago and it still works great for him. But i have no experience with the passports and don't know anyone with one. And i believe they cost a little for then the V1.

Re: Radar Detector

I did a lot of homework and went with the Escort 8500 black. The 9500 is sweet and has some nice features but for the road trips I make and the $200 savings I am very pleased with the 8500.
Two and a half round trips between Baltimore and Michigan of 581 miles each way and an average moving speed of 75.5mph (Pennsylvania is 65 and a lot of 55mph construction) coming here on Thursday, I have come to trust the Escort. The false signals from overpasses freaked me out at first tho.
Biggest surprise to me was the number of cops I see that dont have them turned on. Brings a nice sense of ease, before I would have been waiting to see if the cop turned around to come after me.
Unmarked cars rolling with traffic are still a bitch tho! If youre going to drive fast you need to pay a lot of attention to whats going on. I am more aware, less distracted when hauling ass on the highway instead of kicked back and cruising at speed limit.

Re: Radar Detector

Never bothered with a detector. I wouldn't think they'd be all that effective against POP and LIDAR anyway.

Re: Radar Detector

Anybody out there knowledgeable about radars? I've been reading a lot online about the best spots to mount your radar. And i can't seem to find any answers. I have mine mounted up high next to the mirror, mainly because it looks bad ass and it is out of the view of any cops. I saw somewhere that the higher the radar the better... But i saw somewhere else that if it's a Valentine One it should be high and if any other brand it should be middle to low... Can anyone give me a little info?? I have a escort 9500 ix by the way.

Re: Radar Detector

I have three escorts 8500, 8500 x50 and the Escort Redline.... all broken

the 8500 powers up but stops working claiming it "requires service"
the 8500 x50 case and cheap plastic broke and will not stay in the mount.
the Redline has no sound.
Quality Products Indeed!

All being shipped in for service as we type.

the 8500 was purcahsed in 2004, so it's understandable
the 8500x5 was purchased in 2008... I guess I can except the broken case
the Redline was purchased in 2010 and it stopped emitting sound about 9 months after purchase.
