Re: Radar Detector

I have the V1 and have had it for 6 years or so. It's chatty, but it does work no tickets to speak of. I replaced an 8500 with it and like it much better although I'm sure escort tech has gotten better over the years. I trust the v1

Re: Radar Detector

I have Escort's Passport Max 2. Mounted it to the right of the rearview mirror, just below the headliner. I pair it with my Android LG G2 using the Max's built in BT which gives me a large screen with posted alerts.

I used an extra long power wire. Tucked it a long the edge of the headliner and down the driver's A pillar trim, then under the dash, ending up plugging it into the 12v receptacle in the cubby below the nav screen.

Also have a Uniden Bearcat 680 CB stuffed into the cubby. Very tight fit.

Re: Radar Detector

Has anyone installed the escort PASSPORT 9500ci on newer GC? If so, can you post some pictures. I am looking to install this unit and searching for the best location for the jammers and inside display...

Errr no nick he means the ci the custom install kit. That's the one with the seperate lcd display that gets drilled into a plastic trim panel and then the module is somewhere in the engine bay. That setup looks bad ass but it's like a $1000

Re: Radar Detector

Ok, I'll chime in. bought a Whistler 3600 pro. Mainly because of the remote mounting of the led display. I got mine in the change slot in front of the gear shift. the radar unit is behind the grille. Installation came out mint.....performance ehhhh, no so much. To get any kind of hit on any kind of band I have to be approaching the radar and I won't get a sound until I see the source....so yup, it's a boat ancre. To be fair, I think I got a bum unit and I waited so long to install it the 90 day warranty expired. $286 paperweight.

Re: Radar Detector

I've got the 9500xi and it works great! Used it on every road trip for a few years now (ever since I had my 8500x50 stolen). I've always thought about installing the flushmount for it, but never bothered with it because a) it's expensive, and b) I don't use the detector that much (only on road trips). As for performance, while driving through the hills/mountains of AR, I've picked up the piggies from way out (like easily 2+ miles). In a straight line, performance is even better. However, the thing is so sensitive, even running it in "Auto No X," that it catches piggies in small towns way off the highway sometimes. Then again, I'd rather have super-sensitive than under-sensitive in the radar category...
