rear wiper arm question

Hey everyone I am hoping someone can help me out. I have an 08 grand Cherokee with the 3.0L diesel. The other day my rear wiper arm called it quits and broke. The area that broke was the area that bolts onto the wiper motor output shaft. I went to the dealership and they looked up the part # and got me the new arm. I noticed that the new arm has a metal let's call it a "bushing" as I can't think of the real name atm. I start to take the old one off and I noticed that my oem one doesn't have this bushing. I get it off and start to put the new arm on and I'm unable to go any further as this bushing is bot allowing the bolt to go through so that I would be able to put the nut back on etc. When I search the net and look online all the numbers match but the end of mine on the packaging has AB after the numbers. Are there different wiper arms or is this the right one etc. The dealership is saying this is the right part and I'm installing it wrong. When I tell them I am using jeeps manual on how to take off and on, they go silent. I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight or did they in fact give me the wrong part etc. Thank you in advance

Looks like the part is correct with the AB on the end according to JustForJeeps!

Re: rear wiper arm question

Maybe it's a universal arm and fits different jeeps. I wonder if the bushing comes out? Does the bushing have grooves. If yes check the opposite side and see if there are groves there too. Does it look like it will fit if you pull the bushing out? Just a thought... or maybe someone change the wiper motor and used a different one.

I did try to remove the bushing but I think they casted it into the mold, that sucker wasn't moving no matter what I did or hit it with. There are no groves on the bushing at all. Very smooth inside as well. If the bushing wasn't there it does look like it would fit with no issues. I am the 2nd owner to my jeep so that is possible. But I don't think it has been as there are no remarks in the service history that it has been changed. And guessing from who use to own my jeep any and all work was done at the dealership. I will take a pic of the old one and the new one as well as the mounting area. Thanks

Re: rear wiper arm question

My 2007 rear wiper arm also has a silver sleeve or bushing & I understand any cherokee from 05 to 2010 are interchangeable (commander too).It sounds like the wiper motor may not be original. On a related note, unfortunately, when I tried to remove my arm to replace wiper motor, I couldn't get it to budge, even after wd-40 much wiggling..prying carefully all around and simultaneously on 2 sides. Looks like the ticket would be a "battery terminal puller" if the jaws are wide enough to fit around base of arm
