Remove stock Antenna

I'm sick of looking at that ugly antenna.

I tried unscrewing it with my hands, but it wouldn't budge.

Tried using some pliers too without luck. Is there a specific spot I'm supposed to grab and twist??

Also was thinking. What if I just cut the damn thing to a shorter height? I rarely use the radio; but I take it the reception would drop immensely?

Re: Remove stock Antenna

At the base of the antenna itself are two flat spots. Use a crescent wrench (pic below) on these spots and just unscrew it.

And no you really wont loose much reception is you cut it down. I cut mine down to 10" and reception is perfectly fine when i actually use am/fm... Sirius is usually my choice when driving though.

Re: Remove stock Antenna

The base part above the plastic?? It seems like it is STUCK on there. I've tried with the wrench but I keep bending the metal around it.

Re: Remove stock Antenna

ok is there something I am missing here. I am trying to get this antenna off and ive been using a wrench but it will not move. I think I made a boo boo because now the black plastic piece wiggles to so I think I knocked that loose but the antenna itself still wont budge. Any advice on how to knock this thing loose. Could it be glued to the plastic piece or something? I feel like this is much harder than it should be.

Re: Remove stock Antenna

If you look at the picture above...that silver ring is not part of the actually antenna. If you twist the antenna just above that ring to the left it should come out. All thats holding it in is something that looks like a screw.
