Removing carpet

I searched and couldn't find anything about removing the carpet. Has anyone done it or know of a how to or write up somewhere? Tips and advice needed.

Thanks

Re: Removing carpet

Haven't done it on the Jeep but the process usually involves removing the seats, remove center console, remove sill plates, start lifting carpet and see what else is in the way.

Re: Removing carpet

I had to remove the carpet part way when I had a leaky sun roof. The process overall is pretty simple. 05wkguy is right. You're gonna have to remove all of the seats with an air wrench, remove the sill plates, and unbolt the side pillars and seat belt bolts. It's best to use a good set of interior pry tools bought from harbor freight or amazon for cheap. The side pillars have a small square piece that pops out near the top of the pillar. There is a set screw behind it that needs to be removed. I almost ruined my pillars by not seeing it at first. I didn't have to remove the center console though, the carpet just slides under it 2 inches or so. Start at the front and work your way back pulling it up on both sides of the center console. Once you get it out from under the center console, it just lifts up from there. The carpet ends just under the rear seat.
