Yeah a lot of the LED's do appear brighter but are in fact the same brightness or offer less.

True, but it never hurts to advise a friend or fellow owner on an ill-advised purchase.

Didn't say they were brighter then anything, just said they were super bright. Why are they so bad?

I think he was exaggerating a bit but as for quality I wouldn't come to trust much from Ebay. That's why it's of utmost importance to buy from a reputable seller/brand.

True, but it never hurts to advise a friend or fellow owner on an ill-advised purchase.
-yep. as Steve from XD said, most are for cosmetic reasons. That's why i switched to HID, i wanted more light than the LEDs gave out. The Leds(VLEDs) i had "looked" great, but as for the amount of light it gave out i was disappointed(these werent cheap either $25-30)

-maybe ill-advised to you but several members have HID reverse and not have 1 prob. As for the warming up time, idk how fast you guys are backing up into that spot, but by the time your shifter hits R and you turn your head back, you will have more than enough light.

i cant say how the on/off cycle will affect the life of the ballast, maybe it'll shorten it maybe not. who knows for sure?

Yeah, I'm not too big on the LED's for reverse until they get to a point where I know they are brighter than the stock bulb for sure. I've see some people modify the socket to install a Silverstar Ultra or any other kind of bulb meant for a high-beam and the results seem like they work pretty damn good.

All HID kit warm-up times vary greatly. I think for a tough parking spot or area it might be beneficial but for a majority of the time it will be a waste.

It has nothing to do with shortening the life of the ballast, it's the bulb that's the main concern.

Re: Reverse lights

shoulda said ballast/bulbs.

im using DDM, they offer HID bulbs for $15 which doesnt bother me too much if one ever decides to give out. but i do understand some with other brands, in which the bulbs are much more expensive. I'll be pissed if my $60-80 bulb gives out in a few months.

I guess with DDM then it's not too bad and thank god for that lifetime warranty they have. I would definitely not do a reverse HID mod with an OEM ballast . From when I used to use DDM, their ballasts seemed pretty good but their bulbs to me were always lacking.
