Basically, it's a high quality Forged wheel rather than cast. ie, the wheel is FORGED into shape with dies rather than simply cast in a mold. A much more expensive process making a (typically) much stronger and lighter wheel.
The MONO bit just means one piece, as opposed to two or even three piece wheels

Re: RODTANA 22inch 1 Piece Mono Forged RT (Vipers) for SRT

Nooooo, no spacers! They're illegal here.
My wheels are 40mm offset and I run 285/35 tires. IMO, 285's are better than more readily available 265's as they're not "stretched" onto the wheel.

Re: RODTANA 22inch 1 Piece Mono Forged RT (Vipers) for SRT

ahh...you wankers are getting into my specialty now....forged is not always the best...
It depends on the aluminum and content. All aluminum start out at some point as a cast chunk. There is a big difference though in a cast part and a billet chunk of steel or aluminum.....which is what i do....LOL. The actual naming is that a square or rectangular chunk is called a billet, and a round chunk is called a round, but the name billet in aftermarket wheel companies has come to mean “strong because it is made from a block of aluminum”...yeah...uh huh!
A cast wheel is made from aluminum being forced or poured into a wheel mold. The wheel will have thicker and thinner areas........the aluminum must have good castability properties...which usually means higher contents of magnesium. One of the main properties of an aluminum that has good castability is that it does not form internal voids while cooling becasue of the mag. It also depends on the cast rate etc. As the aluminum cools, it shrinks. If there are thick and thin areas, the thick areas will cool slower than the thin ones, and the thick areas can form voids and the part can warp out of shape or crack, or worse, form internal stresses that come out when the part is used, then crack.
But since all these wheels are made in China...I doubt they use a consistent content mix like we do here in the US. Do you also know that a lot of these billet wheels and forged wheel companies are getting their aluminum chunks from China? So....call it as you see it.

oh yeah...just adding my 2 cents that maybe these forged/billet wheels arent always what the owner thinks. theer are companies that buy only certified US aluminum billets

Re: RODTANA 22inch 1 Piece Mono Forged RT (Vipers) for SRT

Absolutely!
I think it's always wise to try and find out exactly where these "billets" are coming from, as you state the China stuff has virtually no quality control.

Cheap(er) "forged" wheels coming onto the market kind of give the game away..... I guess there is a reason why a true high quality forged wheel like the Rays Engineering's on my Nissan GTR are over $6k a set.

Re: RODTANA 22inch 1 Piece Mono Forged RT (Vipers) for SRT

Lol illegel why doesn't meet the australian highway specs? Ok nice so 285 35 22 so wat would I go with if I have a staggered fitment? I'm on your page I want a beefer tires. I think the tire combo 265/35 295/30 is a bit to thin so. If I do 285/35 upfront wat would I do on the rear

Re: RODTANA 22inch 1 Piece Mono Forged RT (Vipers) for SRT

Spacers of any kind whether they be bolt on or sandwich are illegal and insurance would be void if there was an accident relating to it. A hangover from the 1950's I think lol. I use spacers on race cars without issue.

On a staggered fitment, with say, 9" front and 10" rear, I think 265/40/22 front and 295/35/22 rear would be pretty sweet
Here is a really good calculator for comapring sizes mate. Gives you everything you need to compare rolling differences.
