Re: Rola roof rack owners

How bout some pics... haha

All you gotta do is get a new bolt in place of the stock hand knobs. I think it's a 1/4" but I'm not 100%. And install it in its place. Then mount the Rola mounting hardware upside down. You'll see in the pics!

Rola instructions

Upside down and mounted

Hope this helps ya!

Coop I hate to correct ya ... But i think it's actually a mm size. I can't remember exactly, I think 6 mm. Then again when comparing mine to LucasJ's, we are noticing small differences in sizes and configuration, and we're only a year off from each other.

Your best bet to get the exact size, is take the knob off and bring it into home depot. They have a board to screw it into. Make sure when it's in that it doesn't wobble around.

It's a very easy mod and makes it look and sound soooooo much better.

Re: Rola roof rack owners

Pulled the trigger and bought it. Found it for a killer deal, too. Not too sure about the website, but that's what AMEX protection is for. I'll probably pop on the Rola bag, too. I'll just coat it with scotch guard type spray and put my luggage in garbage bags for added water protection. I looked at some other bags, but none seemed as nice for the price.

Re: Rola roof rack owners

Does anyone have any opinions or reviews on the rola extension? Does it lose it's strength with the addition or is it still pretty sturdy?

Got the rack the other day, installed it last night. It was so easy and looks great. Here are a few pictures. Unfortunately the Jeep is not mine anymore, but it's still in the stable. It's my wife's now. Oh yeah I got it for $140 shipped new from performanceparts4less.com

Re: Rola roof rack owners

Its a great rack for the money and it will serve you well. One thing you should know, and I am surprised nobody mentioned it, is to seal up the joint where the two pieces connect. When water get in, it will leak rusty water on your roof. If you can weld it, do that. If not then seal it up with some tub and tile caulk. Enjoy.

Thanks Lucas. I actually read that in another thread and I already sealed it. I really just put a bunch of sealant in each female end before I assembled it. Hopefully that is enough to stop the rust. If not I'll also have to put it around the outside, too.

Re: Rola roof rack owners

I know this is an old thread but....FYI - I found a great deal for one one these carriers on Amazon sold be ecustomhitches. 157.00 shipped!!! I took JeepCoops advice and flipped the mounting hardware and replaced the cross bar knobs with bolts. Thanks BTW! Just thought I'd let people know about the deal if they're looking at getting one.
