Re: Roof rack or no Roof rack?

I took off the cross bars and just have the side rails for a couple of reasons. First, it's easier to clean the roof, and second I have Thule crossbars that can quickly attach to the side rails for the times I need it. I've had the Thules for over 20 years now and they are still going strong, just had to replace the rain gutter feet with side rail attachments when I moved up from my Cherokee Sport a few moons ago. Thule or Yakima (or whomever) may seem like an expensive up front cost but they carry forward to every new vehicle you get.

Re: Roof rack or no Roof rack?

See below pic of my "wimpy" WK without the roof rails.

All depends on what look you are going for. I lowered mine with SRT springs, but when I took off my rails it looked like a lowered it another 2 inches!! (I guess technically I did if you measure from ground to very top of vehicle)

Re: Roof rack or no Roof rack?

I removed my cross bars a few years ago to make it easier to clear the snow during the winter. I haven't put them back on since then! I think it looks clean without the bars on, but I know if I ever need them I can quickly throw them back on top.
