Re: Skid Plate question

I ordered an Overland with Saddle on 09/23. Like the original poster of this thread I was interseted in keeping the 20" wheels but wanted the skid paltes as well. After some research and a final discussion with my dealer (who has been one of the most helpful dealers I have ever dealt with), we have confirmed that the Mopar parts skid plate package is actually a 4 piece package, not a 5 piece package like you get on the ORA group.

The 4 pieces include:
-front Axle plate
-center differential plate
-left gas tank plate
-right gas tank plate

The missing piece is the rear differential plate for the rear elsd. The 4 Mopar pieces are indeed the same plates installed on the ORA group minus the the 5th piece. That 5th piece only comes as an OEM part right now with the ORA option. Not sure if that is going to change.

I was able to purchase the Mopar skid plate package for $560 installed....this included a dealer voucher of $50 for referring another buyer.

Re: Skid Plate question

Depending on where you live, it may be a good idea to get the off road package, put the 20's on, and throw some Blizzaks on the 18's for the winter time. They're sooooo worth it. It leaves you with and extra set of all-season tires, but those would ebay pretty easily

You may have the best solution here. On even days I'm thinking of ordering the Off Road Pkg, odd days I'm not. The other thought I had is to forget the 20's entirely and get the 18" black anodized aluminum wheels that are in the Mopar catalog. I may also step up the tires.
I am not sure if the dealer will just swap wheels out and I pay the difference or I end up with two sets of wheels. Any one know how it works? I'm planning on asking a sales guy this weekend. Doubt he is going to know At this point he admits is just getting to know the features on the Overland as they arrive at the dealership.

Re: Skid Plate question

I had this same delima when ordering. I want the 20" wheels and skid plates. I decided that in the end adding the skid plates after delivery was cheaper than buying the 20's. As stated above the skid plate group is around $500. If you also look on Mopar parts the 20" wheels are almost $500 apiece. Price wise it's a no brainer.

I would be fairly certain that the missing diff. plate will be available soon. either from Jeep or within a couple of years probably a salvage yard.

With the Overland which is what I ordered the skid plates are the only part of the ORII that isn't already on the unit, aside from the wheel change.
