Sunglasses compartment gone nuts

So just like that one sudden morning the compartment on the top console where you put your sunglasses has decided to malfunction. It closes a bit crooked and you need to pull it hard to open it. It also makes this noise as if plastic is grinding together. No idea how this would suddenly decide to malfunction. Every day I would open and close it to insert my sunglasses now it's a daily grind. If anyone has any fixes...would appreciate it.

Sounds like it either has a busted hinge or something small stuck in the hinge.
They aren't rocket science to replace.

Yes this happened to mine there is a little plastic tab that breaks off and causes this. What you need to do is pull the holder assembly down and on the left there will be a little hole. Jam a thick piece of paper in there and cut it flush. Should work smooth as butter then.

Seriously bud?

Is the the area you mean? The noise seems to be coming from that little valve wheel bearing part. Can you elaborate please? Thanks

Yeah the gear thing on the left sounds like it's grinding right? The little plastic part holds some kinda rod mechanism from going over its range and slipping out of place. When broken the gear mechanism slips out and grinds I guess. Like I said I just stuffed mine with paper and has been good for the last 1 and a half years. You will need to pull the holder assembly with the lights all out to see the little hole on the side.
