Been super busy with the baby and stuff but time to get back to business.. the rig is trashed... like literally so sometime this week or later this week I should start with interior work then work my way to the outside. Have a great day folks
I'm a little late to the party lol
My 4th was alright, stayed away from the fireworks though....obvious reasons why there.
Anyway, I ran into a slight delema with my bass setup. I recently upgraded my sub from a kicker L5 10" to a kicker L7 10" all while reusing the same box and amp.
After talking to a professional audio shop, they basically confirmed what I was thinking. I need a bigger box with more airspace for the driver/ coils on the sub. The shop was saying that the biggest down fall to the solo baric subs is that they need a lot of airspace to properly vent and be the most efficient. Essentially by reusing the compact ported box, I'm choking the sub off.
Now onto the power side of things, they said that the power I'm running now I can get away with but it would be better going to a class d mono block amp. My current amp is a pioneer two channel but I have it bridged for 800watts. They also said the reason the amp is cutting out is because the sub is too much for it.
But Amazon is my friend lol. I found a larger box at the largest recommended size for my sub for 90$ and it's made from 3/4 mdf. Good stuff there.
I also found a pioneer mono block amp that has the same rms/peak ratings as the sub itself and even better at the same ohms. This is a 200$ amp
