Has anyone attempted cutting a coil instead of using lowering springs?

That depends on the spring. If you buy lowering springs for the srt. It will go lower then the springs for the non srt

Is there anyway I can just swap the rear springs or would it have to be all four

You could do just the rears. But in my opinion it would be safer and a better ride to do all four

How come all the HP gains seem to come from the upper end? I understand that's where the most torque (and power) is generated, and the "law of diminishing returns", but isn't there anything for the lower end?

well the N/A type engine and the heads, cams and valving configuration contribute to the higher mid and top end power. our SOCH engines are not good for low end power.

best I could say to help the low end is gearing and a U/D kit
