Re: well what happened was.....

I ordered the upper and lower parts and the support. so essentially the whole bumber. it happened going down the highway, no I never at any time removed the thumb screws.

Re: well what happened was.....

Ok, i run my setup for the last few years with only the outer 4 thumb screws and i have not had issues with the lower section coming off. Good luck with the repair.

Re: well what happened was.....

From what I've seen Jeff likes to push the speed envelope, and may need all the thumb screws, and lower clips in place.

Re: well what happened was.....

so at what speed were you driving when the lower section of the bumper decided to detach itself?
I sometimes do 80 mph when passing, but that is only if I need to. For the most part I stay within 10% of the posted speed limit and no problems with just leaving 4 of the thumb screws installed.

I wonder if that is why the SRT8 WK has a one piece bumper.

Re: well what happened was.....

I was at 75mph when it happened. but I believe the plastic got weakened from past highway blasts. one other possibility is that it came unclipped at the top were it slides together, and the wind got behind it pushing it down. once that happened the plastic rivets and clips gave way cuz I ran it over when it detached. I have a solution to this problem...im bolting it together. no more plastic-any-attaching-hardware-crap for me lol

Re: well what happened was.....

for all your time/expense, you should look at a SRT bumper, especially if you drive a little fast.

Re: well what happened was.....

I know but im not wanting a srt clone and this is a cheaper route. I will however reinforce the stock one, on top of that im doing all the work myself. and in other news I just installed R1 concept slotted premium rotors front and rear with ceramic pads all the way around, and I did the bed-in procedure according to R1's instructions

Re: well what happened was.....

I hadn't really noticed until this the SRT is one piece they might've done high speed testing, and found ours to be weak. I hope this isn't the case since I'm no stranger to speed either. I did consider it for looks at one time not thinking about that. I run all the connectors in mine still the center clips in the bumper come undone. I have devised a plan to epoxy small L-bracket to those clips which will slip into the slots, and provide better purchase. I have to take it off one more time when I do it I will post up. The SRT might be a good thought for you Jeff.
